So Sam's gone off to Nebraska with Dean and Jo. this is good; Leah approves, especially as he took a radio so Leah can find him if she needs him.
She's determined not to need him. which is perfectly normal and just one of Leahs' 'totally independent and needs no one and ntohgin, thank you' quirks she's got going on. Besides, Oracle was true to her word and is providing Leah with plenty to do. In between missions from afar, she's busying herself with things that distract her from thinking about how much she wants him around.
One of those things is heavy metal music. Which is why she's leaving her apartment in Metropolis; she knows a market that occasionally trades in scavaneged goods. that they often contain CDs.
Catch her there or en route, or even on the radio - Innovator is always wired in.

"OK, so you wanna go back, right? Get rid of him for definite?"
no subject
"Absolutely."
no subject
"I'm in."
How quickly she answers probably doesn't really show how much soul searching she had to do before making that decision.
Back home, she'd lead the mission to subdue the father, hand him over to the authorities, see him in a secure prison.
Those things don't exist here. She needs to be more utilitarian, and that means getting over herself and overseeing killing where necessary. Now, is necessary.
"Who have you got on your team?"

loathing-exploration.Rachel smiles a little for the immediate response, drawing her feet up onto the chair so she can wraps her arms around her knees. "Me and Tobias. A few from the farm. That girl that can create and move that light stuff..."
One day, she'll actually have to get Val's name.
"...and whoever else she told and forgot about." This last is slightly irritable.
"Oh, and Lucy. I haven't asked, but I'm sure she'll come."

"How many morphs do you and Tobias have?"
no subject
"How many do we need?"

But she's making a note of the sharp edges idea. She might like some shooters involved.

A long one, this time.
"...okay," Rachel says softly, more to herself than anything. Then louder, "You know, like... on a shower wall, when you've finished, and there are all the drops scattered around. One starts falling and it runs into another on the way down and it... absorbs.
"It's like that. They sort of attach and melt and..."

God, she is really glad Tobias isn't with her right now.

"Detroit's big city, and our main target's just that one guy. We're gonna need numbers if just for the variety.
"...do Lucy's dragons breathe fire?"
no subject
But that, her tone says, would be awesome.
"The main target might be the Father guy but we couldn't find him last time. The only way we could get the army to fall was to tear at this thing in the center. It was like a heart, with a worm in the center. Once I killed the worm, the rest of them fell.
"I never actually saw the Father. He just talked to me."
no subject
"Alright. so we need to get someone to the worm. You reckon the things can be distracted away from a single ring bearer?"
It's possible Rachel won't get the reference. OH WELL.
no subject
"A what?"
no subject
Instead, she says, "Tobias, in his hawk morph. If we get a big enough group to run distraction, you reckon he could get into the centre?"
no subject
"I have an eagle morph. It doesn't have to be him."
no subject
"What puts up the biggest fight? The grunts or the centre?" She says, finally. And adds as the same question, "which bird is fastest?"
She doesn't question Rachel's protectiveness.

There's another pause, not quite as long. Not only is Tobias' body smaller, and therefore faster, he's an all-around better flier than Rachel is, more attuned to his body and its abilities.
"...he's not crazy about this trip. He'll go, I know he will. But if you want to make him the center of it, I need to talk to him first."
no subject
Although she only understood it too late. "Do you want to make it the two of you? Might be more likely to get noticed."
no subject
She knows how it works. But this isn't the usual and Tobias is constantly reminding her of that. She's not going to volunteer him for the Death Squad position.
"I'm not going to volunteer him for it, though. I'll talk to him, or I'll ask him to come talk to you, if you want."
no subject
It seems like the best plan for now. Though she vaguely wishes Eddie were here to tell her what was wrong with it. She's better when things are happening now.
2I think we'll need a bigger team, but I'll talk to Val."
no subject
He'll say yes, because Rachel is going and he'll want to go and if they need him, Tobias would never say no.
But Rachel won't say that.
She nods, setting her chin on top of her knee. "She said something like ten people know about it, from the farm. I was thinking of asking Jo, too, if she's up for it."
no subject
She'll also, possibly, come with guns and Winchesters, and that solves another of Leah's internal questions.
"If you see Val, can you ask her to get in touch? I'll try her through my channels."
