Sokka is contemplating the road to Smallville. Town! People! And more importantly ... SHOPPING!

But he's not sure they'd accept Fire Nation money here, and that's all he has.

Plus ... Sokka's basically a lazy person. And it's a long way to walk.

There's SRS THINKY going on here, as he stands out the front of the farmhouse with hands in pockets.

"Yes. But no more than your average amount. For a barn," Layla said walking up to the door of said barn. "Ready to see your new wheels?"

[identity profile] sheknowsstuff.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Cue eyerolling. "I know that. Wheels is a slang term for car. And I don't have time to tell you the complete inner workings of the internal combustion engine. Do you want to see the car or what?"

"One thing at a time," Layla said and yanked on the door letting the light shine in.

And there... was Sokka's dream car.

Layla expected as much. Which is why she is leaning against the barn door watching Sokka's "cargasm" with some amusement.

"You're welcome," she said in her sing-song voice.

She just smirks.

"The keys are in the visor above the driver seat," she says moving to the passenger side of the car. "You can tear apart the car when we get back from shopping. Okay?"

"You need to put them in the ignition," Layla said patiently. "It's that slot there. When you turn it? It'll turn the car on."

"Easy big guy. You haven't even put it in gear yet. Now that big circle thing? That's the steering wheel. And that thing by your right foot? That's the pedal you push to accelerate. The other pedal is the brake..."

And Layla went on to explain the gear shift and omg thankfully it's an automatic transmission because teaching Sokka to drive a stick would break her brain.

Yes. Well Layla knows stuff.

Which is why she's wearing her safety belt on the ride into town.

"Okay motorhead," she teases. "Where do you want to go first?"

[identity profile] sheknowsstuff.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure thing," Layla says as she pushes the door open. "I'm a little hungry myself."

[identity profile] sheknowsstuff.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's a doughnut," Layla explains. "It's very good. Try it."

[identity profile] sheknowsstuff.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
"It tastes like kool-aid. Only with dough."

"Glad you like it. It's made from monkey brains."

[identity profile] sheknowsstuff.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Layla looked at him skeptically.

"Do you even know what a monkey is?"

She knew he didn't. She just wanted to see what he'll say next.
