The yellow thing has been hard at work. It has a small wooden house set up outside the bunker, with a sunflower to the side. It has also hoarded a small cache of scrap paper and old crayons.

At the moment, it is outside its house with said paper and crayons, peering seriously at the walls and occasionally making a few marks on the paper.

Though it is very distractible, if anyone feels like trying to get the attention of a small yellow thing.

Hello, small yellow thing. This is a larger red thing.

She likes your pictures. You can tell because she's ten feet away and trying to look at them anyway.

This is the Penance-version of: meep!

She ducks down and back, further away. She didn't mean to intrude! Promise!!

[identity profile] verb-not-noun.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, she didn't run. She just moved away and ducked down so it wouldn't be afraid of her. Small, not-human things tend to be friends faster than larger, human ones.

(Penance <3 Kraken, for instance)

Ducking down a little lower to the ground when the yellow thing starts creeping, Penance tilts her head and lifts a finger for a small wave. Hiiii.

[identity profile] verb-not-noun.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that like a wave? She's not sure. What if she reaches up to flick one of her spikes of hair so it fwips a little back? Does that work?

[identity profile] verb-not-noun.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait. Is this a game or is she freaking it out? Penance is really confused and shuffles a bit in her crouch, uncomfortable. She wants to headtilt back, questioning.

But if she headtilts, it'll think she's mimicking it, and then what??

[identity profile] verb-not-noun.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, no, yellow thing! Don't get too close!

Penance shies back a little and holds out a hand. To demonstrate the badness of getting too close, she places a fingertip on top of a stone between them.

crack

Now there are two stones and a Penance anxiously waiting for a reaction.

OH NOES SHE SCARED IT-

Oh wait--

...

Wait, wut?

Penance blinks a few times once another rock is placed in front of her, glancing between it and the yellow thing a few times. Did it like that? Most people are kind of adverse to her breaking things with her fingers. It's a bad thing after all, right?

...

crack

YN?

[identity profile] verb-not-noun.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
........

TOTALLY WICKED AWESOME.

Penance beams and sits up, reaching for one of the little halves of rock. This one she pokes with a toe.

crack

SEE IT'S NOT JUST FINGERS, COOL HUH?

[identity profile] verb-not-noun.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh paper! She knows what to do with that! Smiling a little shyly, she takes the paper and carefully sets it on the ground. With a bit of work, she has it folded into a little square without scratching it.

And then goes about cutting it up.

This is also what you do with term papers but Ms. Frost tended to disagree with her on that.

[identity profile] verb-not-noun.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
And then you cut it! And then you open it and it is a pretty pretty snowflake!

Which is offered, somewhat shyly, to the little yellow thing. It's being really nice to her and has super cool powers - she wants it to like her!

In the same fashion, Penance will be trying to draw her own pretty pictures, by way of sticking broken crayons onto her fingertips and trying to press hard enough to get color, but not hard enough to break it again.

...it's a somewhat frustrating afternoon for the both of them, but utterly awesome all the same.
