Clark is in a sickeningly good mood. There may be whistling. It's probably not because he's restocking the kitchen cupboards with the latest canned goods obtained in town earlier.

He may or may not tell you actually why, depending on who you are and how you ask.

"Oh. Well, still, nice to meet you," he replies with a small smile.

"Yes."

She smiles back.

"Thank you for taking care of all of us."

A small, indicative wave to the food.

He shrugs. "Someone else would do it if I didn't, but you're welcome." And orange is held out for her. "Might want to get in on these while they're still fresh."

she repeats as she accepts the proffered orange.

But not in English.

Clark freezes in place and just stares at her for a minute.

"What did you say?"

Inty is confused!

Blink.

"...I said thank you?" she tries, puzzled.

"Yeah, I know, just," Clark frowns, not really sure what to say about it. "Nevermind."

"...Oh."

Inty ducks her head and blushes.

"Sorry, did I switch languages? I do that sometimes, when I'm talking to someone who knows more than one."

Clearly this is a source of embarrassment for her.

He nods, still obviously uncomfortable. "You did, yeah. I'd sort of appreciate it if you didn't."

"...I'll try. It's not something I do on purpose. Most things aren't."

"Fair enough," he relents, after a soft sigh. He can't really fault her if it's out of her control. "Just don't take it personally if I don't exactly get used to it right off the bat."

"I understand."

And she does.

"I'm sorry."

Not just for the language slip.

Clark shrugs again, crossing his arms over his chest. "Not your fault." Which goes for whatever it is she's apologizing for.

"I know. Still."

Inty shrugs back.

He just nods back and then there's an awkward sort of silence.

"So, where did you two come from?"

"We came in from Gabriel's New York to this world's Florida, and then drove here."

With a nod in the vague direction of the front door, "The white Mini Cooper's ours. I brought in some food from it when we arrived."

Clark probably noticed that. It's not like many other people in this house are in the habit of stocking the cupboards with things other than fruit.

"We have a car?" That's news to Clark. Things do occasionally get missed when he's speeding around. He peers out the window to see that there is, in fact, a white Mini outside. "Huh."

"We do."

Could that be amusement in Inty's voice?

...Naw.

"That'll come in handy, I'm sure," he smiles at her again. "Thanks. for the food, too."

"You're welcome," she returns, smiling.

Brief pause, then: "...Would you like help with sorry, with finding anything else?"

Intuition isn't entirely sure why she's asking that particular question. She meant to offer her aid in a general sense; the word 'finding' just... slipped in there. And it tried to be in , too. Odd. She looks mildly puzzled.

"No." It's an automatic answer and then he frowns again, pausing briefly before adding, "No, I don't need helping finding anything."

"All right."

Intuition frowns slightly, then asks, "Do you know why I would've asked such an odd question? I only meant to see if you needed any more help in general."

"I don't know. You're intuition; you tell me."

...Clark doesn't really mean to be so snarky.

"If you don't want to tell me, there's no need to be rude about it. I try not to pry, insofar as my nature allows."

Clark sighs. "Look, I'm sorry. It's just a touchy subject, okay?"
