The bridge of the Aerie One

Sparrow doesn't like this plane. It's too big and too comfy and not at all what Heroes like Dick says Barbara is should be flying in. Also, she doesn't really like the fact that she slept here, and not on her own plane. Sure, the sofas are more comfy then in her cape on the floor, but her cape and costume are on the other plane and she feels undressed.

BUT. These computers she's found are awesome. So because no one's told her what she is and isn't allowed to touch, she's having a nosy.

And she still hasn't taken her shades off.

Dick is pretty sure Babs' alarms will go off if Sparrow manages to touch anything she shouldn't. So he's just smirking at her from where he's waking up on the other couch, amused and bleary-eyed and wanting coffee.

Yawwwn. Face-cracking yawn.

"... what wouldn't I give f'Alfred anna cup of tea," he mumbles, and doesn't get up.

Sparrow looks over her shoulder with a look that says he should have been up hours ago.

"Who's Alfred?"

"You don't have an Alfred?"

Dick has nothing but pity. And a pillow. He's very comfy here.

"Poor you."

"I can bring my own tea," Sparrow points out, not looking away from the computer.

"Not that I'd want to."

Tea, ew.

"What's to like?"

"I think you fail at being Robin," Dean says sadly. "Sorry."

"Good."

Dick can have another pillow. THROWN AT HIS FACE.

"'Cause I'm not, remember?"

"You just wish you were," Dick says complacently, snagging the pillow out of the air and tucking it under his head.

"Everyone does. It's okay."

Dick is possibly at his most annoying in the mornings.

"This is my plane," Barbara says with a grin, "So you'll drink coffee and you'll like it." She holds out a steaming mug of said beverage.

"Well," Dick says, laughing and struggling upright, "I guess I could handle that."

"Big tough guy like you? I should hope so," Barbara teases.

Dick laughs, swinging his feet over to sit up on the edge of the couch and inhale tea steam.

Ahhhh.



"So tell me, fearless leader ... how long have you been here? What's the plan?"

"Eight or nine months on the ground so far," Barbara says a bit sadly. "There's a lot of work to be done. I've mostly been constructing a working information net, but I think it's just about time to start approaching what passes for local governments..."

Dick smiles up at her over the rim of his coffee.

She never changes.

He never wants her to.

"I'm here for any groundwork you need. You know that."

"Oh," Babs shoots him a smile with a teasing edge, "I'm going to put you to work. Don't worry about that."

"I never doubted it."

He leans over to tug her hair, smiling.

"Having fun?" Barbara asks as she rolls up behind Sparrow.

"Mmmmm," Sparrow says. She doesn't look over her shoulder, and she doesn't attempt to hide what she's doing.

"You've got like, everything on here, haven't you?"

"I wish," Barbara sighs dramatically. "I designed the Aerie One as a mobile command center, but it was intended to access my ground-side servers." She shrugs, "I suppose I shouldn't complain too much, I did get the plane, after all. It's just that in a lot of ways I'm crippled out here."

Furtive glance towards Barbara's chair. Was that a joke? Should Sparrow be laughing? SHE DOESN'T THINK IT'S FUNNY.

Barbara gives no sign that she was being ironic, but she's good at controlling her expressions so that doesn't mean much.

She sits and watches Sparrow in silence, eyes clearly considering... something.

Sparrow stares back for a couple of seconds, then turns back to the computer screen. But before she can do anything, she breaks.

"What?"

A tiny smirk creases Barbara's face. "I've got a file on you, you know."

Without another word, Sparrow's fingers dart across the keyboard, with the full intention of operating a full-system search.
