Will and the artist formerly known as NamelessGuy Garo ('Ro? Gar? Is not easy to make nicknames of such things) have arrived in New York, having been ferried by Nathan.

'Ro, for his part, is staring with rather childlike wonder at the city. The countryside was one thing, but this 'city' is tiny to him.

"S'small." Brightly.

"Oh aye, brought all our weapons an stuff from the farm 'long with some food an such. Are ye well?"

He'd hug her but he's rather loaded down and looks her over,

"Also, tis Garo."

She's gonna try to hug Will around the stuff anyway.

"I'm fine, glad you two made it in ok. We shouldn't stay out here too long though."

Kate backed up, and smiled at Garo, "Nice to really meet you then."

"Nice to really meet you, too." Sheepishly, but he's grinning.

He hugs her back as well as he can,

"Where are we stayin' then?"

"Well, the castle's got lots of room. Unfortunately some of the wings have talking paintings that are demanding a password. I found a great room of supplies though."

Guess which room that is.

"How many supplies?"

"Oh aye, what sorts o'stuff?"

"I don't know, I lost count somewhere around 500. But there was weapons and other items, though some acted odd. Like magic. No food in that room. Kitchen area looked to still have some things."

Garo possibly isn't fond of magic. He looks vaguely suspicious.

Still, he won't complain about lots of supplies.
"S'a lot. Useful."

"Sounds a good sort o'place, which way is it?"

Will's more curious than suspicious and well a castle sounds a bit like home.

"Just up this way, come on. Don't want to attract attention," she beckoned them both to follow her. The castle was only a few blocks away.

Garo gives the castle a thoughtful look. Possibly he's inwardly figuring out ways to fortify it.

"What sort of creatures are here?"

First Will just looks up and up, smiling happily as the green light shifts into his eyes,

"Beautiful."

That look gave her some hope about Will being ok here. If it means he's got some reminder of home here too then maybe things will work out.

She then added, "Nasty plant ones, they can even shoot spikes. Jessica gave me the 411 on them. She's been staying underground since they can't travel in darkness. But they're not good with heights either so we got two advantages to work with."

"If this is outside the protected area then monsters can come here from other worlds, same way we did, and materialise inside the castle, though." Garo mumbles. "Someone needs to set up a defense grid to run throughout the castle, along with fortifications against things coming from outside of it."

Having plenty of things to do will be good at keeping his mind off darker thoughts, Garo thinks. It's a comforting thought.

"Oh aye, shouldna be too 'ard to defend, e'en 'as arrow slits."

Will just won't be going near any dungeons and all will be well.

So Slytherin wing will be right out, along with the potions classroom, but that's ok. They were now heading into the massive doors that lead into the area before the main hall and the staircases.

"Pretty sure Kansas is the only protected area so yeah, and Garo, if you want to get started on bolstering defense around the castle, go for it."

If Garo knew that castles had dungeons, he'd be avoiding them like the plague. As it is, all he knows about Hogwarts is that it's a relatively large stone fortress. It may be a nasty surprise when he finds out.

At the moment, though, he's more concerned with new smells. The doors and staircases are getting sniffed speculatively.
"Need to familiarise myself with the layout first. Make plans. Find resources." Absently.

"Oh aye, figure out where we're sleepin' an get some food."

Will's put down some of his things and has gotten hold of Kate's hand.

Kate nodded to Garo, "Sure, didn't see any maps, but go ahead. Oh, mind the paintings, they move and talk."

She squeezed Will's hand, "Not sure yet, there were some asking for passwords, and I didn't see beds elsewhere so there might be some behind there if they could let us in. Maybe you can help me with changing passwords for them since that's a good security feature."

"I'll leave you two to that." As he wanders off down one of the corridors.

"Oh aye, keep safe, Garo."

Kate watched him go, and then called out, "Oh! And careful of the steps since they move around!"

She then added to Will with a shrug, "It's a weird place but think it's useful for a base."

"Okay!" Called back as he turns a corner and heads away.

Will gives him a wave before properly kissing Kate, he wanted to wait until Garo was gone to be polite.
