"Ok, what's with the pacing?"

"Frustrated." Garo replies, finishing up one set of sword forms before flicking his sword around and sheathing it. "Been tryin' to think of ways t'control the crazystuff, but not had much luck. Will had an idea, but we tried it out and it didn't really work."

"What was the idea? Meditation?" She leaned against a column with her arms folded in front of her.

Shiftily: "Something like that. You'd have to ask him about it, I just followed his instructions."

Beat. "Did try meditation, though. Didn't work. Think I'm a bit too restless." She gets a wry grin.

She eyed him at that, "I can see that. What about running? A long exercise session?"

"That's sort of similar to Will's idea."

Except Will's idea involved more punching.

"What we probably need is some way for you to confront it. Not sure how without a psychology expert though."

"Don't like psychologists anyway. They play games with your head." Gravely.

Kate frowned, "They also can really help you with your problems. The whole point is to fix what's wrong with your head."

"Wouldn't like t'give somebody that much power over me."

She rolled her eyes, "It's not like that. They help you get power over yourself."

"All too easy t'abuse that kinda power."

Will sees them both talking and nods through eating a roll before stopping, this doesn't look good.

She scowled, and stepped closer to him, "You're only saying that because you don't know. They can help people. One helped me. Stop being so afraid!"

Garo frowns a little.
"Why are you so angry with me? I haven't done anything to you, I just ... don't want to give somebody that kind of power over me. I spent what feels like so long with no control, trapped and knowing that every single kriffin' sadist around me had the power to make me hurt if they wanted to.

"They used it, too, and I never knew when I was going to be humiliated, or taken away for torture, and I just had no control over what happened t'me. At all. I hated feeling that powerless, and I hate that I still feel like I don't have any real control over what happens to me, and I just don't want to give somebody, who might help me or might just kriff things up, power over me.

"Can't you understand that?"

Beat.

"I don't - I don't want t'be afraid. But kriff, I spent so long in that place. Even a world away I can't seem to get my head out of it."

Beat.

Everything before has been gentle and slow and quiet. The next line is just rather flat: "And I still don't get why you're so angry with me."

Will steps forward and puts a hand on both of them, "She's angry cause she wishes to 'elp but doesna know 'ow. Isna at ye, Garo just all the stuff that's 'appenin'."

Kate added, "Will's right. And also the fact that I've been there. I know what it's like to not have control over what's being done to you. It hasn't been as long as you've experienced but it's happened to me too. You need to realize it was nothing to do with you. You can't control what had happened, but you can control how you're dealing with it."

She then said, "You are giving power to something. You're giving power to your past. Letting it control you. Don't you see it?"

She just gets some slightly grumpy mumbling in response.

Beat.

"So - Either of you two had any great ideas for stopping the crazysuperpowers?"

"Kate, ye've 'ad friends with powers, 'ow do they work?"

Kate considered it, "Well, Billy can bend reality with his magic, but right now he has to focus on what he wants with a mantra. Teddy helped him by using his mom's self-help books. Self-realization, visualization, things like that. But we've all made mistakes at times. Really the only way is through practice and training."

"Can't practice it. Don't know how t'use it at all."

"Then 'ave to find a way ye can use it without bein' in danger o'dyin'."

"We're in a school, there's got to be some kind of manual or books for learning. Something that'd be useful."

"Can't read your language."

"If ye wish to, can learn. I'm still learnin' an we'll all look together."
