So you might have noticed there's a big ol' robot parked out back of the bunker at the Cooper farm. It's large and green and looks very battered.

Approach it, and one of two things happens.

Either you came during the day, and Val Bell is sitting on its head with a good book and a bowl of apples, or you came during the evening or night and it is apparently deserted. 'Apparently' being the key word.

What'll it be?

"...have I said something wrong?"

"No, not at all."

The wry, easy grin is somewhat artificial, but it's hard to tell.

"I just got distracted for a second there. Excuse me for a minute, would you? I've got somebody I'd like you to meet."

He starts climbing up the side of the mech without waiting for a reply.

...?

Well, she'll just be over here cleaning...

Neil disappears into the cockpit.

About thirty seconds later, he climbs back down with something round, bright, and orange tucked under his arm.

......???

"...Basketball?"

"Nope. This is Haro. Haro, this is Windows 95."

"Good to meet you, 95! Good to meet you, 95!"

"Haro's my copilot," Neil explains, leaning back against Dynames. "I thought you guys might get along."

"Ah! Kawaiiiii!" Eee she's going to wallow in the adorable for a moment.

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Haro-chan! Are you a program as well?"

"Haro's the closest thing to artificial intelligence my world has."

Neil grins. Haro hops out from under his elbow and crosses the distance to 95, flapping its ear-flaps at her from ground level.

"When we first met I was told he wasn't very sophisticated, but the little guy keeps surprising me. He watches Dynames when I'm not around. Right, buddy?"

"Haro! Guard! Haro! Guard!"

She kneels to get closer. "My! What a helpful person you must be! And you can pilot Dynamenes-san as well! How very impressive!" Also he is cute as a button. This is not quite as impressive, but definitely good.

Haro wiggles its ear-flaps in a way that somehow manages to suggest a blush.

"95-- very nice! 95-- very nice!"

Neil is fascinated. He's never seen Haro get embarrassed before. Also, this conversation is criminally adorable.

HARO IS GETTING HUGGED NOW.

"Oh my! Aren't you sweet!"

The player is giggling and flailing.

Haro raises its ear-flaps, reels out its hands from underneath them, and hugs back.

Neil covers his mouth to hide the grin.

d'aww.

"I suppose you are a military program, Haro-chan?" Those are OK. As long as he's not that detestful Apple, they will get along just fine.

Flap flap.

"Maintenance and support! Maintenance and support!"

"In other words, yeah, he is."

"Ah, so desu ne... You must be a very responsible person, to have such an important duty!"

Any reasonably functional human can do the piloty shooty things. It takes a good program to do maintenance and support!

"I hope you two get along well."

"Best friends! Best friends!

Neil just stands back and grins fondly as Haro retracts its hands again and bounces in place a few times. Excitable little guy.

Eeee!

Neil has gone up several points on 95's trust-o-meter.

"Ah, I'm glad to hear that! A program and its user should always get along as well as they can." Sometimes this must be enforced with sharp objects when the user gets bad ideas.

"I hope we can get along well, too! It will be nice to have another program around. Some people here seem to have trouble understanding us."

"Programs don't usually walk and talk in my world," Neil admits, "but I'm learning. And Haro seems to think I'm doing all right."

"Good guy! Good guy!"

"Thanks, buddy. You too."

"I simply cannot understand how anything can function if we're not made this way. It seems awfully inefficient." Who does the cleaning?!

"Well, we manage somehow. I don't know what I'd do without Haro, though. Somebody's gotta watch the mobile suit while I sleep."

He hesitates.

"Actually, if it's not too much trouble... you said to let you know if there was anything I needed? How would you feel about watching Dynames for a few hours once in a while? Right now it's just me, Haro, and Val, and Haro's very alert but he's not exactly fearsome."

"Too small. Too small," Haro admits cheerfully.

"Ah? Are you sure?" So much responsibility! ~~OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!~~

"Well, as long as Greg-sensei doesn't need me, and my cleaning duties are finished," both of which tend to be a Sure Thing, "I'd be glad to offer my services." Another bow.

She will probably also give an added bonus of tidying the place up! Such is how it goes when you are dealing with a yamato nadeshiko.

"Thanks. That'll be a big help."

Neil smiles. Haro flaps its ear-flaps excitedly.

EVERYBODY WINS HERE.

It is the best possible solution! :D

"Haro and 95! Guarding Dynames! Haro and 95! Guarding Dynames!"

Clearly the only appropriate celebration is for Haro to jump back into Neil's arms for CUDDLE TIME.

D'aww.

(He tries to look like having an armful of delighted robot is a dignified position. He does not succeed.)
