Sokka is contemplating the road to Smallville. Town! People! And more importantly ... SHOPPING!

But he's not sure they'd accept Fire Nation money here, and that's all he has.

Plus ... Sokka's basically a lazy person. And it's a long way to walk.

There's SRS THINKY going on here, as he stands out the front of the farmhouse with hands in pockets.

Sokka rolls his eyes.

But he takes the bottle.

"Are we nearly there yet?"

"Almost there," Layla replied. "Don't worry you'll have plenty of time to shop before you need to get back. It's not that horrible of a walk."

"I do like shopping." He grins, excited again. "We need a car! Can we buy a car!?"

Layla gives him her pantented "Are you for real?" look.

"Sure. Because there aren't plenty left abandoned in the world that you just can't pick which one you want and just use it. Besides if you want a car just steal Jamie's. He won't care."

Well he will but he'll just pissed at Layla.

"We need a car to get to a place we can steal a car," Sokka says logically, and then eyes her doubtfully when she suggests stealing Jamie's. "...no!"

"Then why not just steal one to begin with? Or... You know. Walk," she says with an eyeroll. "What kind of car do you want?"

"We can't steal someone here's car," Sokka says patiently. "They'll be sad. So we have to get a car properly, till we can steal someone dead's car."

He pauses, thinking this second question over.

"...a black one. With an engine."

"Okay. The car you want is at the third farm down that road," Layla said pointing at the road in question as the pass it. "The owner's abandoned it when the spit hit the fan and left the car behind. It's in good working shape and will get you where you need to go."

And then she gave Sokka a look.

"Unless you still don't want me to tell you stuff."

"...okay, you can tell me stuff then." BEAM.

"...just not stuff I don't want you to talk about! And you can't talk about it to anyone else either! But you can tell me useful stuff. Can we go that way now?"

"Fine," she says with an eyeroll and heads back to the road. "You are so easily distracted."

"We need a car to go shopping in," Sokka points out logically. Or is that word 'justifies'? Same diff.

"You just want to drive a car and you're rationalizing it," Layla snarked. "But it's no skin off my nose."

And there would be the road leading up to the third farm.

"It's in the barn. You're not afraid of spiders or anything, right?"

"Of course not!" Sokka says Very Firmly.

"...why, are there spiders in it?"

"Yes. But no more than your average amount. For a barn," Layla said walking up to the door of said barn. "Ready to see your new wheels?"

"I don't want just wheels," Sokka points out, following eagerly. "I want a whole car. And do you know how to make them go?"

Cue eyerolling. "I know that. Wheels is a slang term for car. And I don't have time to tell you the complete inner workings of the internal combustion engine. Do you want to see the car or what?"

"Of course I want to see the car!" Sokka glowers at her. "I want to know how it works too. I want to play with the engine and drive the car and everything!"

IT'S SO EXCITING.

"One thing at a time," Layla said and yanked on the door letting the light shine in.

And there... was Sokka's dream car.

Which doesn't say much, considering how little he knows about cars (YET) -- but OMG.

CAR.

It's SHINY and it has an ENGINE and WHEELS and DOORS and Sokka's just going to climb all over it and inspect it from every angle and completely for get to thank Layla now mk.

Layla expected as much. Which is why she is leaning against the barn door watching Sokka's "cargasm" with some amusement.

"You're welcome," she said in her sing-song voice.

Sokka is still cargasming. Give him a moment to remember she exists.

Oh yeah.

That girl exists.

He's quite enthusiastic.

She just smirks.

"The keys are in the visor above the driver seat," she says moving to the passenger side of the car. "You can tear apart the car when we get back from shopping. Okay?"

"Okay!"

He inspects the visor obediently, and stares at the keys, turning them over interestedly.

... this Sokka has never actually been inside a car, or seen one in operation. She might need to give him a clue.

"You need to put them in the ignition," Layla said patiently. "It's that slot there. When you turn it? It'll turn the car on."

Sokka's Face Of Glee isn't going anywhere anytime soon, especially when the car starts obediently and purrs happily and the scent of petrol and oil rises.

"THIS IS SOOOOO COOOOOL!"
