Kate slept in, the few dreams she had were nightmares of war, and of blinding cold imprisonment. She was outside in the field near the Cooper farm, going through katas as a warmup, despite the still bandaged leg. And then taking her bow, and firing some arrows into a makeshift target (bales of hay). If she seems especially focused on the targets as she fired, a distraction would still be appreciated.

"If Sam 'adna told me to use the iron, would 'ave been pulled under."

She sighed, "Really are that tricky and sick, aren't they?"

"Aye, they use what makes us 'uman 'gainst us."

He moves closer to her, squeezing her hand again.

She moved closer so they were right next to each other now. Slowly breathing for a few minutes.

"We have to stop them, Will. Have to stop her," she finally said.

"We will, promise."

The closer she gets, the stiller he is since he's so aware of her.

She was quiet now, and her head gently leaned down to rest on his shoulder. After a moment, her head lightly nuzzled him there.

Carefully he moves his arm so its around her and kisses the top of her head,

"We'll figure it out."

She curled in more against him, a hand on his chest. She silently nodded.

His other hand starts stroking through her hair and he gently rocks her, not sure what to say or how to make things right.

Kate drew in a shuddering breath, and exhaled slowly, as the tension slowly drained from her body. Her eyes closed for a moment.

He can feel the difference and quietly lets out the breath he was holding and kisses her hair again.

There was an appreciative murmur from her, and her head gently tilted up to kiss his chin. Seeking out comfort and reassurance from another broken soul.

The kiss makes him smile as he lightly traces her face before leaning down to kiss her.

His fingers felt nice against her skin she had to admit. Though she chased away any mental images that thought conjured for the moment.

She kissed back gently before her mouth opened a little.

She finally broke the kiss to whisper, "Too cold to sit here." Which was true. The cold ground was leeching the warmth from her body, and she was shivering from the cold, and also flashbacks of memory that cold summoned for her.

He didn't expect her to open her mouth and so when she breaks off the kiss, he's got a rather silly smile on his face,

"Aye, be warmer inside."

Then slowly stands up, offering her his hand.

She slowly gets up, feeling the pain of her leg in the cold more. And limped over to retrieve her bow and arrows.

She glanced back over at him, and there was a soft smile back as she tucked a strand of hair back her ear.

He offers his arm so she can lean on him, he'd take her bow too but she probably wouldn't like that,

"Can get somethin' warm inside, tea or some such."

The silly smile is kind of staying there, he likes kissing her.

She might not mind right now, but she did accept his arm to lean on.

"I could go for some tea, thank you."

Getting warm and inside the farmhouse doesn't take very long and he does his best to settle her comfortably on the couch,

"Tea, aye, I'll make tea."

Then puts a pot on to boil and stares around, he has no idea where the tea is.

Kate watched him a moment, and then slowly got up again.

"Need some help?"

"Um aye, na sure where I should be lookin'."

He looks rather shy and unsure, he doesn't want to mess things up with whatever this is.

"Well where was the box before? Did you check the cabinets? Or maybe in the pantry?"

The truth is Will actually has never made tea in this kitchen, but he has an idea,

"Think was 'ere."

And opens a cabinet with lots of boxes in it, mainly crackers but there is some tea.

She got out one of the boxes of crackers, and briefly touched his shoulder while she reached up for the box of tea. And then placed it on the counter.

She gets another shy smile at that touch,

"Probably be best if I learned to read. Ye should sit down, dinna wish ye 'urtin' yerself."
