Will's feeling rather happy as he eats his lunch in the Great Hall and just keeps randomly grinning.

"That's na goin' to be easy though."

Will grins and starts heading towards the cabinet.

Garo grins back, following.

The door opens onto a Green and ancient forest where a light misting rain is falling. Will seems to fit better here as his steps grow quiet.

Garo watches him, a little, but mostly takes in his surroundings.

"Know any good, clear spots?"

"Oh aye, should be a clearin' this way."

And then Will sets off into the Green.

Garo follows, managing to keep up with little difficulty.

Soon they reach a clearing,

"E'er used a staff?"

"Not really."

[will_scarlett]

"Care to learn?"

"I'll take one and try it out. Don't be surprised if I toss it aside halfway through the spar, though," Garo grins, pulling off his shirt and setting it on a branch.

"Fair 'nough."

Will grins and starts cutting himself a staff.

Garo starts cutting himself a staff, imitating Will's movements.

Soon Will has a good staff and smiles as he twirls it before facing Garo,

"Tis quite simple an best thing 'bout a staff is ye can attack an defend at the same moment."

"Okay," Garo raises his own staff, a little, before moving forward to attack Will.

Will responds quickly and with ease, he's missed using a staff.

Garo attacks again, lower this time.

And Will's staff is there as his own moves to knock out Garo's legs.

Garo's legs are knocked from beneath him, and he hits the ground hard. It only takes him a moment to get to his feet, grinning, staff swinging about at Will's shoulders.

Will blocks the staff and starts a series of attacks at Garo's sides.

Garo blocks the attacks, just about, but it's not easy.
"Is everybody as bad as me on their first try?" As he drives his staff at Will's gut.

"Nay, ye're doin' good for yer first time."

Will's staff locks with his and he does a twist meant to send it almost out of his hands.

It doesn't leave his hands, but it does go flying out to one side, still held by him, but leaving him nonetheless open to attack.

And Will moves in to attack with a lot of speed and a grin.

Garo ends up getting rather battered, staggering back a little from the staff blows. He's still grinning, though.

Since Garo doesn't seem to be wanting things to stop, Will just keeps going.
