Two-Parter Post!

Inty is in her and Gabriel's bedroom, brushing her hair (it's a novelty! It used to brush itself!). If you're doing something interesting somewhere in the rest of the Cooper house, she might just swing by and poke her nose in. She does that.

And then Inty's there, holding her hand and moving with her, helping her along.

"Hello," she says. Speaking underwater? In this dream? No trouble at all.

"Inty!" Steph beams, delighted, and squeezes her hand. "I'm so glad to see you."

"And I you," Intuition replies, returning squeeze and beam with equal delight.

"I made two bikes crash and they blew up the gas station," Steph says, turning suddenly in a whirl of a too-big cape and boots five sizes too big for her feet.

They're standing on the road now, water-city gone and replaced by empty, deserted fields and a gas station that's bigger and solid-er than it was in real life, with a family cowering inside it.

"I didn't mean that, either. Am I going to keep making mistakes that get things killed, Inty?"

"I'm sorry," says Inty, hugging her.

"I can't know that."

Steph frowns, and the landscape twists, shaking itself into a Landrover parked in the scrub off the road, four people sleeping inside it, two of them babies.

"I got Sokka shot," she says, guilty and miserable.

Dream-Sokka is sporting an impossibly thick bandage, soaked with blood, on one shoulder; and he's glaring at them both from where he's suddenly outside the Landrover.

"And one of them tried to stab Loo."

Hey, Inty, welcome to Steph's subconscious dumping itself on you. Everything she's worried about.

"Not your fault," Inty comforts.

It's viewable that way, at least.

Intuition is good at points of view. And right now her point of view is that Steph is sad and that makes her sad.

"He says thank-you for the marble."

Steph looks over at dream-Sokka doubtfully, and when he smiles and nods she beams.

"It's such a lovely marble," she agrees, uncurling her hand to show Inty where she's kept it safe. "Did you make it?"

"Yes!"

Beam.

"From Jack's dream."

"It's pretty. Do you see other people? I didn't know."

"...can you make Loo and Hana have happy dreams?"

"I walk in lots of dreams."

Shrug.

"I don't choose which ones. If I see them, I'll try my best."

"Do you ever have dreams of your own?" Steph asks, curiously.

And then, suddenly, she blushes (Dream-Steph's blush is a little cartoonish, the way her whole face is suddenly coloured red, but that's what it feels like) and in a blink Dream-Sokka, the car and the landscape is all gone.

"...what if the dreams are private?"

"I used not to, when I was abstract, but now I'm human I sometimes do--"

Inty blushes back! Even her rainbows take on a distinct reddish tint.

"I try to leave when that happens. Sometimes it even works."

"Nothing happens anyway," Steph insists, quite red-faced, "because it's only a dream so it doesn't count."

That's her story and she's sticking to it.

(From behind a tree, Dream-Sokka winks at Inty.)

"...do you mean you sometimes get stuck? In someone else's private dreams?"

"I did once! I hid somewhere where private things weren't going on."

Blushblushblush.

Also, because Inty sometimes lacks the subtle: "The person that Sokka is in your head just winked at me."

"...Sokka's not in my head," Steph lies promptly, if unconvincingly.

No more talking about Sokka plz, says Steph's thoughts, because D:.

Inty raises her eyebrows at Sokka-behind-a-tree, but forbears to comment.

Being human seems to be all about the obvious lies.

Instead, Steph just gets a small, friendly smile.

It really is good to see her!

"He's just a really good friend," Steph explains seriously, and she actually believes it, too. "I hope he doesn't get shot again."

Cos getting shot is lame.

She slings an arm around Inty's shoulders and grins at her, and they're walking down the twisty undersea road again, but without the hurry.

"I'm nearly there."

"Nearly there is good," Inty confirms. "I hope he doesn't get shot, too."

"Inty?"

Steph hugs her.

"I'm glad you're here."

Or as here as she is.

"Me too."

She hugs back.

"Things are strange. There's another Gabriel coming."

She doesn't know how she's going to deal with two!

"Another Gabriel?" Steph blinks, wide-eyed. "Like there's two Sokkas? -- three Sokkas?"

Nod! "At least it's not the one everyone's afraid of. He feels younger than that. Older than mine, though, by a few years."

Inty wrinkles her nose.

"But... I love Gabriel, and now there's two of him. It's strange. Being human makes everything complicated."

"But he's different, isn't he?" Steph looks thoughtful.

She hadn't been particularly attracted to the red Sokka. But then, she's not attracted to any Sokkas anyway so that's okay omg shut up.

"He's not the one you love, if he's a different one. Like twins, right? It's not very complicated... is it?"

She doesn't know for sure.

"He's the same person, but he's not," Intuition explains. "All the same reasons why I love him as an abstract are there, but all the same reasons why I love him as a human--" and yes, she's blushing now, thanks for asking-- "mostly aren't."
