"Well if you just want me all to yourself, I completely understand," Layla said batting her eyelashes. "I'm quite adorable you know."

She's kidding. Really.

Sokka's eyebrows bounce off the roof.

"Excuse me," he says, starting to walk down the road, "I think I'm just going to go throw up now. BLEAAAUGH!"

It's not a very convincing throwing-up noise, but it gets the point across.

Layla just smirked. "I knew you'd do that."

"I hate you," Sokka informs her haughtily.

And then puts the lie to it a moment later by eyeing her warily.

"Have you got a hat, or are you gonna walk all the way to town without one and die of heatstroke on me?"

"I have a baseball cap, sunscreen and three large bottles of water and assorted kool-aid flavors at the ready," Layla informed him. "I don't think heatstroke will be an issue but thank you for your concern."

"I'm not concerned," he informs her. "I just don't want your boyfriend beating me up. What are kool-aids?"

"I don't have a boyfriend," Layla said in a tone usually used by teachers who correct their students. "And kool-aid is a powder that you add to water to make it flavored. Like fruit flavors and stuff."

"Whatever he is." Sokka isn't too concerned. "I liked him. I don't want to end up stabbing him 'cos I accidentally got you dead. Can I see some?"

Layla was already pulling a water bottle and the SUS serving of Kool-aid from her pack. "It's like this, see?" she asked. "You just pour it into the bottle and shake it up."

Hmmm. Like science. Sokka examines it carefully.

"...okay, but what is it? Chemicals? Poison? IS IT POISON?"

"It's fruit punch. Which isn't a martial arts move," Layla explained and filled up a container for her traveling companion and then took a sip before handing the bottle over. "Here. Try it."

"Toph will break you in twelve pieces if you poison me," Sokka informs her, looking at it doubtfully.

...who are we kidding, this boy once tasted slime off a cave wall. SLURRRRRP.

"......sweet and delicious!"

"You only have 20 minute to live," Layla said dryly.

Sokka freezes.

"No I don't," he says firmly, and walks a few more steps, casually. Then, in a TOTALLY UNRELATED SEQUENCE OF EVENTS, proceeds to spit as much Kool-Aid into the bushes as he can.

PTHE PTHE PFFTH! Ack ack ack poison gettitout!

This would be Layla snickering.

"It was totally a joke," Layla said with an evil grin. "I drank some first. Remember?"

She pulls out her own bottle of previously made kool-aid and has a generous drink before grinning again at her traveling companion.

"Mmmm. Delicious."

"I knew that," Sokka says instantly.

"I was just ... spitting because I felt like it."

Yeah.

YEAH.

Yeah.

Yeah right!

"Suuuuuuure," she says rolling her eyes. "Want some more?"

Instant grin.

"Yes please!"

Layla shakes her head in amusement and hands him another bottle.

"Try not to spit it out this time."

Sokka rolls his eyes.

But he takes the bottle.

"Are we nearly there yet?"

"Almost there," Layla replied. "Don't worry you'll have plenty of time to shop before you need to get back. It's not that horrible of a walk."

"I do like shopping." He grins, excited again. "We need a car! Can we buy a car!?"

Layla gives him her pantented "Are you for real?" look.

"Sure. Because there aren't plenty left abandoned in the world that you just can't pick which one you want and just use it. Besides if you want a car just steal Jamie's. He won't care."

Well he will but he'll just pissed at Layla.

"We need a car to get to a place we can steal a car," Sokka says logically, and then eyes her doubtfully when she suggests stealing Jamie's. "...no!"

"Then why not just steal one to begin with? Or... You know. Walk," she says with an eyeroll. "What kind of car do you want?"
