That just confuses Will a lot and so he sits down on the grass a little ways from her,

"Promise I ne'er will."

"That's what those things kept calling me. A bird. 'Lovely bird' to come at her beck and call, and be happy to be in a cage." She quietly said.

"Now I wish I killed more of them, and that's not me. I'm an Avenger, we're not supposed to kill. ...Well, there was Kang once, but that was different. Yet I wanted to put an arrow through that Queen's heart so bad now."

He moves a little closer, offering his own hand, he's finally took off the bandages around his wrists and the scars stands out clearly on his skin,

"Aye, anger can be terrifyin', but ye fought back."

She unfolded her arms enough to clutch at his hand, though there was a worried look at the scars on his wrists.

"Had to do something, found if I kept moving, and stayed angry it kept the spell at bay a little. I could still think for myself and not for her."

"Aye, an ye won in the end. Ye're yer own, na one else's."

Carefully he squeezes her hand back.

She moved a little closer to him, and replied, "Only because you two saved me. I owe you both now."

"I won't let her destroy me. I didn't let that man's actions toward me do it, and she's not getting the satisfaction either."

"Tis just what ye do is all. Ye're stronger than she is."

He looks down at her hand and gives another small squeeze.

"I'm not. Not yet. Wish that whatever I got from this would mean I'm immune to her, but doesn't work that way, right?" Moving a little closer to him.

"I'm na sure, tis only tales in me time an ye are strong. Ye're na to doubt yerself so."

When she moves closer, he looks up at her, a lot of worry in his eyes, he wish he knew what he was doing better.

She peered back at him, "I haven't been feeling much like myself since even before I came here, Will. Haven't been able to be a hero for some time. I couldn't even save any of the other trapped people there."

"Aye, I know, but ye tried an ye 'avena stopped tryin'. An she's strong but we'll go back 'gain with more folks an defeat 'er."

"You could have let me go trap them. Then they wouldn't be a problem for anyone anymore."

"Aye, but then there's a chance ye wouldna come back an na lettin' ye fight 'er alone."

"Doesn't matter, I needed to make things right, and I put you both at risk by lowering my guard to get caught in the first place. And one of the reasons they likely attacked us, was because of me."

He turns so he's facing her even more,

"Kate, na all yer fault, won't 'ave ye thinkin' such things. Could 'ave just as easily been me or Sam she caught. Almost caught us when we were tryin' to get ye."

"...Really? What happened? I know she was angry at Sam, something about her Huntress. She actually screamed in pain then. Why I felt they were likely linked with her."

"Sam briefly went with one o''em, 'e 'urt 'er. 'nother almost pulled me under the ice. Tisna just ye, Kate."

She calmed a little at that, but quietly said with some bitterness.

"Key word being 'almost.'"

He looks down at his hands,

"Only reason I didna was Sam told me to 'it it with the iron."

Kate quietly glanced down at the ground.

"Oh, that I didn't know. Why didn't you before? You said you know of the stories about them?"

"Looked like a lad drownin', just wished to try an save 'im."

"Oh God..."

"If Sam 'adna told me to use the iron, would 'ave been pulled under."

She sighed, "Really are that tricky and sick, aren't they?"

"Aye, they use what makes us 'uman 'gainst us."

He moves closer to her, squeezing her hand again.
