With that delicate, luscious, ambrosial smell?
Something in the farmhouse kitchen smells wonderful. Those curious enough to come have a look will find young Toby (in clothing that begins to suggest he hasn't found the laundry yet) sitting at the kitchen table, reading a cookbook as though studying a favorite subject for school. Periodically, he gets up to go stand on a chair by the stove and stir a very tall pot, or perhaps take a taste-test.
Simmering away in the pot is a beef stew-- it's not a good cut of beef, really, but being stewed will help it a lot. Sliced carrots, celery, and potatos are stirred about, too, and more sliced potatos sit on the counter nearby-- it's not nearly time to add those yet, the ones that are in there are mostly just for body. He added a few Toby experimented a little with the spice cupboard, basically adding anything he thought smelled good, if in small amounts. A small tin of button mushrooms he found in the back of a cupboard were also stirred in, and he's seriously considering onion. And maybe one of those tins of beer.
Is anyone willing to be a taste-tester? Or just to come and inform the lad that one doesn't open a beer can using a can opener?
