Out the back of the Cooper farm, Spots the baby kraken is lounging at the corner of his pool, his big eyes trembling with fear. The water at the other side of the pool is heaping itself up, drawing itself into trembling sculptures and shapes that quiver and then collapse again.

Katara is angry and frustrated and cross. Why can't she make it stay?

But she's better than she was! All she has to do is keep getting better! She can go anywhere, they've figured that out, she doesn't have to stay on the farm. They can go and find her body and they can find the water and they can bring her back, she just has to be able to bend.

Why is it so hard?

(On Hallowe'en, someone let the dead out to play.)

Steph is driving back towards the Cooper farm. Spending a few days in Metropolis was fun, was peaceful, cleared her head a little; but it was also a few days away from Sokka, and she missed him.

The car runs perfectly, of course. Steph's left her uniform spread out in the back seat to dry; the radio picks up nothing any more, not this far out of Metropolis, but she has an ABBA cassette tape and she's not afraid to use it. All in all, it's a nice trip home ... at least, outside of Steph's head.

Dean's done with the library. Done with the whole stupid city. He's got a carful of books and no intention of hanging around any longer.

But he's also got to find Jack, Jo and Rachel, and he doesn't really know where to start. He's heading down the street in the vague direction of Jo's hole-in-the-wall apartment, hoping the others will somehow be there too.

They've got work to do.

There's a reason Angel has been absent from view the last several months. He had to check and see if there was a Sunnydale in this world and, if so, an accompanying Hellmouth. Once that didn't pan out, he hoofed it by foot all the way to Cleveland to check on the one supposed to be there. No dice. Somehow the long trek in the direction of Kansas, and from the state border to the place called Smallville, didn't seem quite so long knowing that neither seemed to exist in this strange place. Too bad he still can't go out during the day.

That doesn't mean the tired vampire-with-a-soul stumbling into the Cooper farm's front yard an hour or two after dark is in a bright mood. He's got a reputation to build protect.

The Aerie One settles back at the farm within a day of its departure - and with two more people aboard. After promising to come back as soon as he finds his brother, Sam checks his supplies, grabs some food from the farmhouse's kitchen, loads up the Porsche, and gets ready to go.

He can be found (for scening) in one of several places:
-In front of the Aerie, packing his car
-In the farmhouse, looking for food
-On the road to Metropolis
-In Metropolis, looking for a parking place
-In Metropolis, on foot, looking for his brother.

He's still a little worried about Leah, but he has no doubt she'll be fine with Dinah until he gets back.
