There are hundreds of run-down, abandoned, falling-apart little bungalows around the outskirts of Metropolis. Lived in by the well-off, then reclaimed by the carnivorous.

What's one more?

Since returning from the successful trip to Lake Michigan, Suki has gotten back on task with her usual chores and farmwork assignments. She's very pleased that Katara is alive again, and she's been working with extra zeal as a result. Somewhat amazingly, she's even been playing on occasion. All in all, she's been a lot more peppy.

Until now.

She's currently staring in dismay at a thoroughly dessicated meadow. Every bit of herbage is withered well beyond death in this fairly wide patch of land. And not because of the ravages of winter—the evergreen vegetation is black and shriveled too, and the earth itself is cracked and moistureless. Were it not for the cold, the area would probably be a dust bowl.

Suki saw something similar occuring when Katara was resurrecting herself. This is much worse though, to the point where the Kyoshi doesn't really want to investigate any further. She's a little afraid of what she might find...

There is a black wolf on the outskirts of the farm. A wolf that was once a spirit, daughter of a goddess. She's now mortal. She cannot always remember the speech of spirits. She cannot always remember her name.

The farm is on the outskirts of her pack's territory. She passes by every so often, to keep aware of possible threats.

The wolf turns from the farm. She heads from farmland, into the wilderness. Her pack is strong. Her pups grow well. She only lost one, to an eagle. Her pack and pups speak only in a wolf's tongue - but that is good, for Howling Wolf is a wolf now.

No more or less.

A note has been toed underneath Darla's excessively leafy door. The handwriting and signature belong to Chandra Suresh.

It says: I'm so glad you're alive. It says: I hope you're safe. It says: we need to find one another again.

It gives an address.
