Sam Winchester has totally been around for a few days, really. In those few days, he's met his sister who isn't HIS sister, met Faith (who is more than enough of an event in and of herself), returned to his childhood home and been forced to resign himself to the fact that he's probably not going to see his brother again, ever.

Is it any wonder he's sitting on the porch of the aforementioned house with his head in his hands, wondering what the Hell happened to his life?

[In Metropolis, Steph and Sokka are having Zany Adventures. These include foiling a robbery, jumping off roofs, and, uh, getting arrested. FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS, WATCH THIS SPACE.]

In New York, the flashes seem to be getting almost regular.

This one occurs right above Times Square, or where Times Square used to be. It drops a man who may not have even noticed that there was any flash at all -- given that more of his blood is outside his body than in.

He hits the ground hard, and doesn't move.

Her recent conversation with 'The Innovator' convinced Babs that she had put off setting up a global broadcast system for far too long. She had gone on a caffeine binge shortly after and now, after a few days with almost no sleep, she's finished.

With a final few keystrokes her salvaged network of satellites and radio stations begin broadcasting her digitally masked voice: "This is Oracle broadcasting on and monitoring all available frequencies. If you are receiving this message, please respond."

The system loops the message and constantly monitors for responses. There may be pockets of survivors out there, and if so then she definitely wants to know about them.

Outside the Cooper farm, where Spots is wallowing lazily in the water, there is --

a girl kneeling by the edge of the kraken pond, stirring the water morosely and barely making a ripple, wrapped in blue leather and white fur with blue beads in her hair.

It still isn't fair, and nothing will make it fair, and she hasn't seen anyone for so long, she's just been drifting around rattling things and nobody even notices, it's awful and she hates it!

-- nothing, really, although the breeze is a bit nippy.

Living in the Apocalypse is going to make a world-class scavenger out of her, Dianne thinks.

She's found herself a sweet stash of food, knives, ammunition, and tampons and an more-or-less intact gas station not too far from their house.

This sort of victory results in a good mood, and blasting "All Right Now" as she nears the house.
